IBRAHIM BEN AZIZ: HOW HE LEVERAGED ON HIS COMPETITORS’S WEAKNESS TO CREATE BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE

With the shift from consumption of red meat to archetypal white meat like rabbit and poultry animals, you can only agree with me that poultry business is a gold mine to be explored. This is because red meat is believed to have more cholesterol and saturated fat which is a fast leading causative factor for heart- related diseases.

One of the men who has taken advantage of that market shift is Ibrahim Ben Aziz Konate. He is the business leader and the founder of Poultry d’Or. A company that produces and distributes fresh poultry products and agro-foods. Their products are slaughtered, cleaned, packaged and delivered all in the same day! The company specialises in the production and distribution of agri-food products and they aim to sell chicken at competitive prices directly to the consumer. which sees over 500 sales a day and employs 15 people.

The 22 year-old entrepreneur’s inspiration for this business came from a documentary in which he saw that Côte d’Ivoire continues to import poultry and he saw that there a gap in the market that needed to be fulfilled.

“I observed the market, studied on the Internet and learned from those who had already done a business model similar to mine. I relied on the weaknesses of my direct competitors to understand how I could better serve the consumers,” said Ibrahim.

The Cote d’Ivoire business champ had been declared the 2017 winner of the top prize at the seventh annual Anzisha Prize awards gala organized by the African Leadership Academy and Mastercard Foundation.
